How to Use Mock Tests Effectively
- Take your first mock test at the 4-month mark of preparation — even if you feel unprepared. The result tells you exactly where to focus.
- Simulate real exam conditions every time — 120 minutes, no breaks, no checking notes. Half-hearted mock tests give misleading performance data.
- Analyse every mock in detail — identify which questions you got wrong and whether it was a concept gap, a calculation error, or a question misread. Each category needs different remediation.
- Track your mock scores over time. A graph of your performance across 8 to 10 mocks shows whether you are genuinely improving or just getting familiar with the same questions.
- In the final 4 weeks, take 2 to 3 full-length mocks per week. This builds stamina for the actual exam and reveals any remaining weak areas.
- For the aptitude section (Part B) — practise reasoning questions daily for 20-30 minutes from 4-6 weeks before the exam. This section is highly scorable with focused practice.
